Lamar, a middle-aged accountant living in a comfortable suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, became convicted that the answer was “Me.” That led him begin work in the poorest, most rural counties in Alabama, areas that were everything his life was not, a place where people had never had the simple things most of us in the United States take for granted.
He didn’t always have a plan. He just listened to the people the Lord put in front of him, then he connected them with other people that the Lord put in front of him. And needs were met, in very simple ways. The extraordinary thing is, anyone can do this. Even you.

When I met with an old high school friend this last summer, he said that he was about to get his book published concerning the work he did and championed in the poorest counties of Alabama. He even said he had a local writer of some renown to help him. “Sure”, I thought. Well “sure” he did! I find Law Lamar’s book encouraging, engaging and hard to put down. That an ordinary man could resource so many simply by making his time and treasure available to any and all in need is evidence or God’s infinite Providence and mercy. You will be encouraged by it.
